about

Temporal Transmission and Lakker meet on RKT´s 20th release. On one side, an upcoming artist with huge potential, on the other, a name that has quickly garnered a distinguished reputation in techno over the last couple of years. Sonically, the EP presents an engrossing distillation of classic late-90s techno tropes while touching upon some of it´s more challenging current tendencies. An aural and conceptual clash that avoids a fixed template, yet still produces strongly coherent results.

The up-and-comer is Croatian Temporal Transmission, who takes another confident step in his progression, after releases on Sonntag Morgen and Ketra. The originals here match classic UK techno funk on Curiosity Inducer, with sinister and sullen dysfunction on Disillusioned, and swaggering offbeat sci-fi on Disinformation. But Temporal Transmission also displays a willingness to experiment and tell his stories outside of purely rhythmic frameworks. Celestin V tells the story of the saint and miracle worker who was elected Pope against his wishes and chose to return to a life of humilty and solitude instead, and this experimental piece sounds baroque in the best sense, and almost lithurgic. This evocative track was precisely the piece Irish duo Lakker chose to have a go at. It has to be said, we are beyond elated to have them on this release, as they have been amongst our favorite producers in any genre, for some time now. After releases on labels we look up to like Blueprint, Killekill, and their extraordinary Monad EP on Stroboscopic Artefacts, Lakker bring us to the antechambers of Hell (where Dante placed Celestin V on his "Inferno"), heigtening the ritualistic feel of the original with tribal drumming and a staggering crescendo of noise, rhythm and perverse melody. Crazed genius at work.

Groove, power, violence and beauty. You can find it all on "Constructs". After all, what´s life without some variety?
